To
those who don’t know The Sadie Green Sales Jugband, we are
Timothy
Walker and David Driskell,
Described
as an extraordinary vaudeville style musical act performing Classic Rags and
Traditional Jazz along with crazy versions of authentic Jug Band Music.”
Since
1975 The SADIE GREEN SALES JUGBAND has been touring Europe as well as the United
States and Canada. Venues have included Bethlehem Musicfest, Hershey Park,
Knoebel’s Groves Amusement Park, WPSX TV, Godfrey Daniel’s Coffee House, and
many County Fairs and Craft Shows. The
Band performed at the Philadelphia Folk Festival in 1998 and 2000. We were
invited to entertain at the 1995, 1999 and the 2000 Kerrville Folk Festivals in
Texas.
Last
April/May (2004), we went on a tour of Southern England and performed
twenty-eight gigs in five weeks including sixteen performances in Primary
schools.
This
CD brings “The Jugband” recorded repertoire up to date! Some of
“Sadie’s” most requested songs were done some time ago on vinyl. We have
gone back into the studio to perform them anew and feel the results are
spectacular.
Just
a couple of notes. The two original Jugband style tunes were inspired by school
shows and residencies sponsored by the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts.
“Tioga
Morning” reflects the good life in North Central Pennsylvania. We could not
resist the chance to re-record “The Interstate is Coming Through My
Outhouse” with a new verse and ending. The rest of the CD pretty much speaks
for itself.
Enjoy!!!
Thanks!
Especially
to George Higginbotham for the grueling recording session where he laid down all
his bass tracks in one afternoon. Thanks also to Debbie and Bob Rubin at
Whitneyville Recording for their encouragement, patience and effort to achieve
the best possible sound on this recording.
